Picture Book Illustration
January TBA 2014 // 10am - 12.00pm
We will be creating illustrations for a much loved picture book as well as our own picture book to be published later in 2014. For school aged children (5+).
We start our session with "storytime" to introduce art themes then we spend a good hour & a half drawing up a storm! After working up an appetite it's time for popcorn & juice (children are welcome to bring any extra snacks). We may have time we finish off our session with an art game.
December 1, 2013 // 11am - 4pm
Join textile designer Carly Schwerdt (Umbrella Prints & Nest Studio) as she shows you how simple it is to design your own fabric. You will print a piece large enough for sewing up a cushion plus you will walk away with the confidence and skills to continue printing from home!
Just bring yourself and some inspiration (a favorite picture, object, fabric), we have plenty of beautiful objects in store to inspire though!
Adelaide Writer's Week
Adelaide’s iconic literary festival brings together some of the world’s great writers and thinkers for a week of readings, discussions and debate. For more than 50 years Adelaide Writers’ Week has created a place where writers can connect with the community in a beautiful parkland setting. Children can now be a part of the action with a creative weekend designed especially for families.
Nest Studio will be there to share exciting picture books, paint with beautiful watercolours and play games as imaginative as they are educational. And something new for the big kids in 2014, experience the traditional publishing method of letterpress, faux lino cutting and screen printing at The Press Club. Following the philosophy of our weekly classes, these wonderfully creative sessions are sure to be enjoyed by all. Amazing books by author/illustrators such as Oliver Jeffers, Jon Klassen and Claudia Bolt will inspire the creation of gorgeous watercolour paintings for each child to take home. Bookings on site on the day.
Nylon Zoo, Mem Fox, Rhyme Time and the Story Tent will also be there as well as a delicious food tent and an onsight book shop!
